MiRus Acquired by Boston Scientific | Healthcare M&A Deal

Announced
HealthcareMassachusettsOther

Deal Overview

Boston Scientific has acquired MiRus, a medical devices business in Massachusetts, for $1.5 billion. MiRus develops a balloon-expandable transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) system intended for treatment of aortic stenosis, supporting Boston Scientific’s TAVR portfolio strategy in MA. Boston Scientific acquisitions in healthcare M&A aim to strengthen interventional cardiology offerings after prior TAVR efforts were scaled back, including the end of sales of certain CE-marked Acurate devices and discontinued development of earlier platforms. The strategic acquisition includes a 34% equity stake and an option for Boston Scientific to acquire the remaining TAVR platform through additional payments totaling $3 billion, subject to clinical and regulatory milestones.
